Linux vs. Mac?

Earlier this week, a column in Slate appeared called "Flipping the Switch: Linux's new popularity may hurt Apple more than Microsoft." Naturally, it's been making the rounds of computer nerd news sites and inciting flamewars. The insightful--and cutting--John Gruber responds point-by-point in a column on his weblog, "Flipping the Bird."

(Gruber's perhaps my favorite computer pundit. Anyone involved in DTP should definitely read his translation of QuarkXpress 6's feature overview.)
