Service note

I've posted a few times that I need to take "internet breaks" for various reasons (getting things done, mental health, my damn thumbs hurt, etc. etc.), but it occurs to me that--even though I'm on the Sidekick a lot less than I used to be--I tend to have AIM up and running all the time. And I realize it's because I feel guilty when I set myself "away."

The problem is that I just don't get stuff done this way, folks, not if it's stuff that requires unbroken concentration. And there are things that require unbroken concentration steadily piling up. Some of 'em have been there a dismayingly long time at this point.

So please, understand that in order to start getting stuff done that's going to mean me getting over my fear of the "Away" status. And that means I ask you, if you're one of the folks who are inclined to search for personal insult in such things (and yes, I know there's a few of you out there), to understand that this isn't about you. It's about me. Getting stuff done. Hopefully.
